Priorities report - Report authored by MPC for DCC Cllr L Wainwright to discuss with DCC Highways
As part of the wider parish, the town of Modbury lies in a hollow surrounded by the rolling hills and ridges of the South Hams. Its dignified terraced houses, slate-hung walls, old shop windows and classical doorways combine to create a fine urban townscape in a rural setting. The parish includes the surrounding countryside and farms and is bounded by the River Erme to the west and stretches as far as California Cross in the east. It included the Hamlets of Brownston and Shearlangstone. Modbury Town boasts a thriving community with vibrant shops, businesses and eateries. It has much to explore, including the many walks within the bounds of the parish. It is also steeped in history and holds an annual May Fair enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. It is teeming with community clubs and events. In recent years it has welcomed many new dwellings introducing a new demographic to the town. It has a thriving primary school, Anglican and Catholic Churches and a Health Centre.
