We’re improving the wastewater network in your area

We’re investing in improvements to the wastewater network in Modbury to help support the town’s growing needs and reduce the risk of flooding and pollution incidents. These works form part of our wider programme to improve the resilience of the wastewater network in the area. Information about the overall project can be found at southwestwater.co.uk/modbury or by scanning the QR code below.

How will we do this?

As part of our ongoing investigations, we need to carry out a series of trial excavations on Broad Street. These exploratory works will provide important information about underground services and ground conditions, helping us to finalise the design of future improvements to the wastewater network.

What to expect

The works will take place on Broad Street, between the junctions of Poundwell and New Road, on Wednesday 14 October and Thursday 15 October. Works are expected to commence at approximately 7pm each evening and finish at 1am. Traffic management will remain in place overnight to allow the new asphalt to be cured and is expected to be fully removed by 7am Friday 16 October.

We need to complete these works during the evening and overnight period because this is a narrow section of road. Lower traffic volumes at night allow us to work more safely and reduce disruption to residents and road users. While the work involves trial pit excavations rather than major construction activity, nearby residents may experience some noise from excavation equipment, vehicles and reinstatement works. We will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the works as quickly as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your patience while we carry it out.

If you require any further information, please contact our Services Helpline on 0344 346 2020 between 8am and 5pm, or visit our project webpage for the latest updates.

We are sorry if this essential work causes any inconvenience and would like to thank you for your understanding.

Yours sincerely,

Stakeholder Relations Lead,

South West Water
